Curt Broadhead: Lacto vegetarians can have hot chocolate with whey, or cream for that matter. Vegetarians and vegans who don't eat dairy would use cocoa powder and soy or almond milk.
Antwan Schrum: It is most likely because many vegans do not consume any dairy product. Therefore if whey powder is made by dairy than strict vegans will not consume it. If your ok with drinking milk and eating dairy you should be fine.
Star Gollnick: Whey can be from something called animal rennet, which is actually enzymes (they are in about everything uncooked and needed for digestion) but animal rennet is actually obtained from cows, it is inside there fourth stomach, and yes, the cow must be dead to get it. whey is not ALWAYS from animal rennet however, it could be from micro or plant sources, if it says it is not vegetarian though, then it might be a mistake confusing vegan and vegetarian but most likely this whey comes from animal rennet.As a vegetarian myself I am sorry to! hear you cant drink it anymore, but I congratulate you in your working toward being a vegetarian!...Show more
Antone Youla: I love to drink hot chocolate soy milk! It is so very yummy. In the Christmas holiday time, a chocolate peppermint kind comes out that is killer. Some soy milks are vegan, so you wouldn't have to worry about all the yuck from other hot chocolates. Good luck!
