What would say previous United States health care system?

Carlton Lastrapes: The health care system has not changed since 1965. The new laws relates to insurance practices to enable everyone to buy insurance.

Chris Wilczewski: There are many differences in how the system operates other than the individual mandate requiring citizens to buy insurance.1. Women cannot be charged at a higher rate then men. In some states, women are charged 100+% more then men for health insurance.2. A health insurer can not drop you if you pay your premiums when you get sick or are diagnosed with a condition or a pre-diagnosed condition is found. Some insures were actually dropping children when they were diagnosed becasue they claim the child was actually born with that diagnosis and should have been pre-disclosed. Same thing with women who were diagnosed with breast and uteren cancer.3. The new system focuses on preventative care, where as the old system severly limited funds and coverage for preventative care. It is estimated that 60% of all! health care costs are directly associated with illnesses and diagnosises that could have been prevented or taken care of in the early stages. Such as breast cancer. A pre-screen for breast cancer costs a whole lot less that surgery, cancer medication, and chemo thearapy.4. Under the old system, when children reached 21 they were automatically dropped from their parents health insurance even if they were in school. The Affordable Care Act allows children to stay on until they are 26.The new system in general is a more first response and preventative system. It is far more cheaper to care for people before they are sick or injured, then when they actually are....Show more
