How come cable issued DVR’s can’t record anymore than two programs at once?

Verdie Wollen: Most of mine have lasted a few years at best before things start going south with them. I recently upgraded to a newer model with more storage space but still it’s only got two tuners so if you are recording two shows at the same time you have to watch one of them live other wise one will have to be canceled at least in regards to that set.

Shaquita Wernicki: Because cable DVRs universally suck. It's not as though they have to worry about you leaving for another cable company so why bother actually trying to provide you with the very best technology out there?Take the Comcast DVR for instance. I give this thing a C-, at best. Talk about minimal effort. It has many bugs, faults and limitations that my first Tivo didn't have - and that was using a processor that was over 10 years old at the time! And storage space? Bah. It's got, what, 300GB? Seriously? Those drives must cost a fortune to manufacture because everyone's gone to 500GB or 1TB size ! drives. Worse of all, its vaunted online features don't even work - and no one knows why....Show more

Jestine Osumi: It depends on the number of tuners the more you have the more expensive the model.
