Would you recommend joining the army?

answers 0:I'll be graduating high school soon and i'm thinking about joining the army, what are some pros and cons?answers 1:theres strong and theres Army stronganswers 2:Pros: Benefits = Medical/Dental insurance for you and your family, tuition assistance and Montgomery GI Bill for school, faster promotions, training for the MOS that you choose in your contract, etc. Unlike Air Force or Navy, you can actually choose a specific MOS (based upon its availability) and get the training guaranteed in your contract.Cons: Basic training may be tougher than you expect, deployments can and will last longer than some other military branches (say Air Force), you may not get to see your family often ...** You say you'll be getting out of high school soon. The best advice I can give you is to go and talk with different recruiters from all branches of the military. See! what each branch has to offer you, and what you can offer in return. Though commendable, enlisting in the military is a life-changing decision - it should not be taken into light consideration. You're still young; take your time and be wise with your choices. I ship out to basic training for the army in September. I wanted a specific MOS as a medic, and refused to settle for any less. I recommend you do the same. Don't ever let them pressure you into signing anything you don't want to. Remember, you're not entitled to anything until you sign a contract. Do not be coerced into signing anything if you're not satisfied. I spent two whole days processing through ASVAB and MEPS, but refused to sign a contract that day because they tried to pressure me to swear in as a mechanic. Two days later, they miraculously found a medic position open for me. Be patient. Take your time. Do your research. You won't regret it....
