Jeremy Donohue: Look online at Boat Trader, Boat US, Craigslist and a host of others for your area. Ski boats usually go for way less than other boats due to the limited use and purpose. You should be able to find plenty in the $15k-$25k range for a boat about 3 years old. These boats just don't hold any kind of resale value off the show room.
Inell Riesgo: unless low powered or designed specifically as a bass boat or something very low to the water, you can probably ski off it anyways. a ski tower makes it easier to get up on a wakeboard or skis, it helps pull up instead of level with the water, but is not required. and is absolutely not needed for tubes or other inflatables.i worked at a marine dealership / service center that dealt in supreme and sangers back in 2004.only time i have seen them exceed $50,000, or even approach it, was when optioned out.i saw a $65,000 supreme once, it had 2 15" subwoofers, 6 high end 6"x9"s around the boat and another 6 mounted on! the ski tower aimed at the skier. of course it also had the graphic equalizers and amps to control and power all those speakers.in addition it had a ps2 (this was before the ps3 came out) and a fold down lcd screen in the ski tower speaker box.that model normally came with 2 batteries. one for the motor and one for the electronics. we had to install two more depp cycle batteries and even the radio and amps would drain them quickly with motor off.the most expensive sanger i saw wasnt tricked out electronically. it had the 454 high output performance motor instead of a 350. just that option brought the bill up $12,000.both of those brands use mercruiser motors and drive systems. merc is the most reliabe brand on the water. problems with the motor and drives are near non existent if properly maintained. the difference in them is all in the hull and how its wired.supreme usually has less access to the motor without removing some things. makes service a bit more of a pain. and ! i have seen lack of quality or understanding evident in the wi! ring of the boat systems.personalyl i found sanger to be the best quality ski boat i have ever worked on.while i understand that the V drive ski boats supposedly put out a better wake for wake boarders, i perfer the direct drive models myself. easier to service, better access to motor.and no V drive, so you dont pay for one, you dont pay to service one.if you buy used, i always recommend a mechanical inspection performed by a qualified tech before purchase. find out if there are expensive skeletons hiding in the closet while you can still walk away....Show more
