Moving to Darwin: take a car or buy one there?

Brian Marquina: Easily if you buy one up there. Registration and RWC rules are different from state to state. You might end up having to stuff around if you buy one here and living up there with it. For i.e Vic doesn't have RWC unless you change names or selling, buying. NSW has RWC for everytime you pay your registration which means every year you need your car inspected.

Cliff Jacoby: Buy a car in Darwin. It's going to be easier to find a car in Adelaide but it will be easier to actually get a car registered if you buy a car from the same state you're getting the registration in. This is a similar problem that I'm having; I want to buy a car from Victoria and I live in South Australia. The thing with buying a car interstate is that you then have to have your car deemed roadworthy in the state it's going to be registered in and what may be roadworthy in one state might not be in another....Show more
