Sheron Perrez: You can't just initiate a security clearance for yourself. There has to be a reason for you to need the security clearance and your chain of command will initiate the investigation.
Rosalyn Olivera: Your S2 section, or in larger organizations the SSO, or installation security office, are the ones who will initiate any action involving a security clearance. If you are in a traditional unit, such as a Battalion or Brigade, then your S2 is the guy who starts it all.
Joan Stavropoulos: In a normal unit, yes you MUST go through your s-2 to start the process. Most of the time, the s-2 does everything. Finger prints, reveiws your SF86, and faxes the final pages. A smaller base, you can go through the g-2. But you have to go through some secruity section in order to get a clearance....Show more
