Kara Tabian: I take the MBTA Commuter rail all the time, and I dont think you can ask for a transfer. I've never heard of anyone doing that. I think you need to get 2 separate tickets. One for Lowell to North Station and another for North Station to Salem. I do know, however that in the subway (Red, Green, Orange and Blue lines) you can transfer trains without bein! g charged. You only get charged for entering the system. But yeah, I think you need to get 2 separate tickets on the Commuter Rail. Sorry about that. Hope this helps!!!...Show more

Gregg Hagge: Unfortunately, they don't do transfers for the commuter rail, so you'll have to pay the full fee for both trips. Have fun! :)
